Things to know about Wind Tower

Park on the south-west side of the Smith-Dorrien road in Kananaskis. Cross the road.  The trail will be on the left side of the Spurling creek. There is no official sign for the trail but you will see a wildlife sign with dates when the trail is closed.

First thing to know, bring lots of warm clothes if you are doing this hike in the fall or cloudy days as it can become super windy on top. I did this hike on October 29th and I was wearing 5 layers on the top! Bring a thermos full of hot tea (little tip to keep you warm)

Wind Tower is an easy scramble, the hik starts on the same trail as West Wind Pass for the first 2.5 km.

At the top there are beautiful views of Spray Lakes in Kananaskis and an incredible panorama of the Bow Valley and Mt. Lougheed.

Check out my Suunto trail map, graph. Note I scrambled to the peak instead of using the trail as it was faster and I was trying to catch the sunrise. I took the right trail down though.

If you are willing to wake up early and reccomand to do this hike at sunrise it is so worth it!
